Process

Is God calling you to plant a church? Are you ready to begin the process in West Virginia to plant a church?

You are in the right place to begin the process of planting a church in West Virginia through the West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists.  We have a seven step process that you may begin today.  Each step has specific things that must be done in order for you to move successfully through to the end.

Step One – Fill out our church planting application provided by the Church Planting Catalyst. This application will be sent back to the office of state missions in Scott Depot, West Virginia. It is important that you fill in every line. A Church Planting Catalyst will call or email you to personally walk you through the entire process. He will interview you and will be your coach to assist you. Send one digital picture of you and your family to: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Step Two – A link will be emailed to you to take five assessments. The assessment cost is $30.00. Once you have been accepted and completed the entire process, you will be reimbursed $10.00. Each assessment will take you between ten to 40 minutes. There is an assessment on Anger Management, Marriage Inventory, Personality Portrait, and a Spiritual Gift Assessment. You do not have to take all four assessments at one time. When you have successfully completed all five assessments, we will be notified of your results.

Step Three - The office of state missions will send you an official email to begin filling out an application with the North American Mission Board (http://www.NAMB.net).  Click on “Mobilize Me” and follow the online prompts.

Step Four – Once you have completed the NAMB application, your Church Planting Catalyst will email or call to work with you on completing a partnership and sponsorship form. At this time you will begin determining a budget and partnerships with other associations, churches or people who might be sponsoring you to plant a church.

Step Five – A Partnership Agreement will be completed by your Catalyst and the WVCSB office. This agreement will list your support and conditions of planting a church.  The Church Planter, Sponsors, Church Planting Catalyst, and the State Director of Missions must sign off on this form.

Step Six – A Church Planter receives an official letter/email stating they have completed the process and are now ready to plant a church.

Step Seven – The Church Planter will receive information on how to fill out monthly updates and Cooperative Program Giving.  Support checks will be mailed to your sponsoring church once the monthly update has been submitted to the WVCSB Office.
