A Call for Fasting and Prayer in 2020

A Call for Fasting and Prayer in 2020

WVCSB pastors, associational leaders, and Executive Board members:

I am calling all West Virginia Southern Baptists to join together in 2020 for a season of fasting and prayer. We desire a spiritual awakening in West Virginia that only God can stir through God’s people repenting, re-centering themselves on the gospel, and interceding through prayer.

If you’d like to join us in this effort, I am asking two things:

1. On the first Tuesday of each month throughout 2020, beginning January 7, I encourage you to set aside the hours between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. to fast and pray, pleading with God to break the strongholds of deception, disunity, addiction, and all the power of the enemy in our state.

2. Set aside one day each month to have a concert of prayer in your church and association. Ideally, this is a time to come together and corporately worship our Heavenly Father, confess our sins, and petition God to rend the heavens and to come down (Isaiah 64).

Thank you for considering this important call. It is time that we humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face, and turn from our wicked ways in order that God may hear from heaven, forgive our sin, and heal our land (2 Chronicles 7:14). I look forward to hearing reports of what God is doing in our midst as we turn our attention to fast and pray!

Until He comes,

Cledith Campbell
WVCSB Interim Executive Director-Treasurer

“God isn’t waiting for the world to clean up its act. He isn’t waiting for a new strategy or a new leader. He’s waiting for those of us in the church to courageously confess our sins and stand on the gospel once again.”(J.D. Greear)
