Church Planting
WVCSB planting stats:
- The WVCSB church planting success rate is over 90% since 2016, due to strong assessment, apprenticeships, and support from sending churches.
- On average, WVCSB church plants baptize 125 people per year.
- 39% of West Virginians identify as evangelical. But, there is approximately only one evangelical church for every 8,000 people in WV.
Jesus commissioned his disciples to take the gospel to the world. They did so by planting churches. This wasn’t by chance – it was God’s plan, and his plan hasn’t changed. God’s strategy for fulfilling the Great Commission is planting churches. By planting (and replanting) churches throughout West Virginia we will see the gospel advance beyond anything we could ever hope for or imagine.
West Virginia continues to see strategic church planting move forward with these two core values:
1. Churches plant churches.
2. New churches are started through evangelism and discipleship - communities on mission to see God’s kingdom come.
New works in our state are birthed through strong local church sending and support. God is raising up the next wave of missionary pastors to go and make disciples in and through West Virginia. We are looking for church planters, families, and team members who have a passion to make new maps, work hard soil in our cities and our hollers, and reach people with Christ!
We work alongside the North American Mission Board (NAMB) to assist church planters and partner churches in assessing the context, learning the culture of the people, and putting a strategic plan together to connect with them.
